Young Humbert meets Annabel in France in the 1920s, when Humbert is 13.

After catching Annabel's eye at the hotel and in the park, pretty soon they seem to be getting down to some action in the barn.

The original screenplay has a lot more of the young Humbert's brief affair with Annabel, which sadly didn't make the final cut.

Four months after they met, Annabel dies of typhus in Corfu. Young Humbert is distraught, and that's the end of Ben's role in Lolita.
