CHAPTER 9: The End

There was a knock at the door, John opened the door the face he thought he would never see there
again, Steven.

“Steven” John said shocked.

“I need to speak with you” Steven said “May I come in?”

John opened the door a little so Steven could come in. They looked at each other, thinking of all they had been through since the last time they had seen each other. They where not the boys they once where they where now men.

“How could you?” Steven yelled “My son he is just a baby.”

John was ashamed of what he had done but he was always ashamed “I never meant for it to happen, I
was so lonely and I thought he could bring joy to my world like you once did.”

Steven had everything he could want two beautiful children, the most perfect lover and partner but yet when he looked at John it was like he had nothing “I loved you all those years ago, but I am glad of the choice I made, I love my family and I love my life. I had wished that some how you could have been a part of it, but now it could never be. My boy, my Ben was innocent you took advantage of him to feed your need without thinking of what you might have done to him. When I first moved back here I thought I could never handle seeing you again but now I know I can handle anything because I have someone to stand by me. I could never hate you, but you will stay away from my son and you will stay away from me.”

John stood in silence he wished he could be as strong as Steven, but he never could. Steven looked at
John one last second before he headed for the door and left John’s life for good.

Steven made his way home when he came in the door he found Ben sitting in the front room with Evan,
Evan was crying.

“Dad” Ben said as he spotted his dad coming into the door.

“What has happened?” Steven asked.

“My dad knows” Evan cried “He kicked me out, he said no son of his is going to be queer.”

Steven looked at Evan and Ben” You can stay here as long as you need to.”

Ben and Evan looked up at Steven and smiled as if to say thank you.

Just then Mat came through the door “What is going on?”

“I will tell you later” Steven said.

“Okay” Mat said.

Steven walked over to Mat and hugged him so tight you would think he was about to squeeze the life out
of him.

“What was that for” Mat asked.

“No reason, just happy I guess.” Steven smiled

Mat leaned in and kissed Steven gently “I love you Steven Carter.”

Steven knew at that moment life was good and it was only going to get better.

“Be happy”
