CHAPTER 19: Lovely

“She gone?” Steve asked. He’d waited in the car, to give them a few minutes alone.

“Yeah she’s gone. I don’t think she’s coming back.” John said.

“Well next summer go visit her.”
“Only if you come with me.” John grinned.

“We’ll just have to see.”

John drove back to Basingstroke. He was quiet most of the ride. As he rounded the corner that lead to Steve’s house, Brenda’s words lingered in his head.

“Go home and be honest with your parents.”

“I can do this.” John thought to himself. He kept driving, passing Steve’s house. Taking a right on Main Street he headed for his home. His parents should be there, by now. It was time they met Steve.

He pulled into the driveway, and turned the car off.

”John, your parents are home. What are we doing here?”

“I’m not sure yet. I think I’m taking you to meet my parents.” John opened the car door, stepped
out. Steve followed. They walked up the stairs leading to the front door. He stopped, took Steve
hand ad entered his home.

“Are you sure this is a good ideal?” Steve asked. He was happy and scared all at the same time.

“Yeah, as long as you’re with me I can get thru this.”

“How do I look?” Steve asked. He wanted to impress John’s parents.

“Mum, Dad.” John screamed. “There’s someone I want you to meet.” He tightened his grip on Steve’s
hand. “By the way Steve. You look Lovely.”

About Get Real

Get Real has had a great impact on me and on the way I look at life. Through some of us may think we’re open minded, in reality we’re not. I learned by watching this movie what my faults are and how to change them.

This movie has also taught me to BE HAPPY with myself. Something I never had a chance to do.
The Cast and Crew of Get Real did an outstanding job and I owe my creative flow to all of you.

About the Book.
Lovely is the first story I’ve written in 6 months. I’ve had the worse case of writers block and it was driving me crazy.

When I saw Get Real it inspired me to do something I’d never done. Write about something I knew nothing about. Being Gay. But in writing this book, I realized that Get Real wasn’t a Gay Story, it was a Love Story and I know all about love. Well maybe too much about love. Ha Ha

Brenda was added as way for me to put more of myself into this project. Brenda is 65% based on me and 35% fiction. I made her John’s best friend to show the true complications of his life and the emotional struggles that he as a young man goes true.
