CHAPTER 17: Let it Go
Steve locked the door behind him. He had to run a few errands for his mother, and decided to walk. As he made his way down the driveway he looked towards Linda’s. He hadn’t gotten in touched with her and as far as he knew she hadn’t tried to get in touch with him. Steve let out a sign and continued on his walk.
As he rounded the corner, Linda pulled away from the stop sign. She noticed her old friend and pulled over.
“Wanna ride.” She offered.
“No, I like walking. Join me.”
“Ok.” She hopped out of the car, leaving it on the side of the rode.
A few moments of acquired silence went by.
“So where you been Lind’s?”
“Around.” She didn’t look at him when she answered.
“Oh. Linda, we really messed up didn’t we?”
“ I try not to think about it.” She confessed.
“So your not mad at me?” Steve asked.
“No. Steve I thought you were mad at me. I did take advantage of you.”
“You. Know it was my fault. I should have stopped, Linda, the last thing I want it to mess up our
friendship. We’ve been mates for two long.”
“Steve, we made a mistake. It had to be the wine, and the flick.”
“Lets just put it behind us.”
“Lets do that.”
“So Linda. Where have you been?” Steve asked again.
“Oh Steve, I’m in love. Well sort of. He wonderful. I think I‘ve found my Romeo.”
“Slow down. Tell me details.” Steve laughed.
Linda told Steve all about the bloke she was seeing. They met in the mall and have spent every day
together since then. She fell for him hard. Couldn’t believe loved had finally found her.
Steve talked about the things he’d been thru. Told her about John and their love, explained what happen to Brenda. The two talked so much and so long, Steve forgot all about his errands.
