CHAPTER 9: Confession
"'Any jobber got the sack, monday morning turning back. Yellow lorry slow, nowhere to go..'" Linda sang along to a favorite Beatles song of hers, as Steve just stood there nearly pouting while watchig her wash her car.
"Ok, I'll give. What's wrong sweetheart?"
After a bit, Steven decided to tell her the truth, besides she had always been there before hadn't she? "Justin called last night."
"Nice! What did the little bugger want?"
"Cool it. He said that he basically didn't want a relationship, just the sex."
"Oh Steve.. I don't know about that. It could get so dangerous. You might as well go back to your rampings in the woods again."
"I know, besides it isn't all that bad, and it isn't as bad as the woods dear." Although Steve did hae to admit to himself that it would really be weird. To be having sexual relaions only with his friend's boyfriend.
"He said that Jessica knows and is ok with it as long as she doesn't get the details."
"Did you call her to make sure?"
"No.."
"Steve!! And you're contemplating it?"
"Well what if he didnt? Then I'd ruin it for Jess. But you're right. If he did, I would never get his trust because he would think that I would always be checking up on him."
"Yeah. And if he didn't and you just assume that he did, and she finds out, it would be even worse, because then he's already cheated on her. I think it's better to catch him before he cheats."
"I know, I know.... Linda.. there's something else."
"What?"
"I had another dream last night."
"Another one?"
"Yeah, and it was roughly the same as the last..."
"Tart.."
"Oh Lins.. but you know that dreams are the forcasts of the future... usually.."
"Yeah, and London Bridge is falling down.."
"Linda.." Steve said very aggitated by the jesting of his best mate at the seriousness of the matter at hand. "I'm trying to be serious. Would it really hurt I gave Johnny another chance?"
"Steve... wake up darling. He isn't strong enough to come out, and besides, you dreaming about you two together is just your subconscious wanting him back."
"Yeah maybe, but..."
"STEVE?!?!" Sarah Carter called from the front door. "Foods' ready!"
"Be right in!" Steve replyied. "Look Lins, I'm just saying that perhaps I should really talk to him."
"Whatever. Just be carefull with that. And also that bit with Justin." Linda called after Steve as he walks towards his house.
--------------------------------------------
"You don't understand. I know that he is gay, but I still love him and want him to be happy. That is why it is ok by me that you two can.. do whatever, just don't let me know exactly what you two do... that's just a little too sick for me."
"Ok. You're the boss. Well hey babe, I've got to go now, my dad needs the phone. Talk to you tomorrow. Love you."
"Love you two Justin."
Justin hangs up the phone, sad to let Jessica go just so his dad can use the telephone.
"Ok dad, you can have the phone." He bellowed through the small house. Justin walked to him desk in his bedroom and pulled out a marble composition notebook that he called his journal and began to write in it for the first time since he got to england.
'England is certainly different then America. Such a different and diverse culture. Not to mention the differnt tastes in food, and food likes and dislikes. And for the most part, everyone seemed so open to stuff, so understanding one might say. As for the acents, well they're even better then I had heard in movies, tv, news and everything. Even the girls seemed hotter, and for what it's worth.. the boys are bettter too. Much hotter than the girls. But I'm afraid that I'll have to wait to actually have a boyfriend; not much longer though, because in only 3 months I'm 18 and free. Although I must admit that I believe I've found one that is absolutely.. lovely. His name is Steven Carter, and is very openly a positively gay man. God, he is so dreamy..."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The night faded away as Justin Mekins scribbles his knuckles to knubs; Steven questions his true feelings again; Jessica finally happy; Mark and Wendy snug; Linda worried as usual; and John Dixon internally confused and twisted. But the weekend went well, with everyone's doings untill alas just as centuries past, Sunday night turned to Monday morning, and all were off to school.
