CHAPTER 5: A Sunday of re-acquaintance.
Steve is waiting outside on his front lawn, well before John's parents turn up. He is feeling a bit impatient in wanting to renew his friendship, no, love for Johnny.
He glances at his watch, 8:29am, "Come on, come on, hurry up." he mutters under his breath.
A minute later the Dixon's BMW turns up. Raymond Dixon winds down his window. "Morning Steve, are you ready?"
"Am I!" Steve cries out as he gets into the back of the car.
They arrive at the hospital, with plenty of time to spare, and they make their way up to John's room.
"Morning, mum and dad." John says, he then notices Steve, "Helloooooo handsome!"
"Hi Johnny."
Raymond goes and gives his son a hug hello and Veronica kisses him on the cheek. "We brought some clean clothes for you, your father and I will just wait outside the room while you get changed. Don't forget to pack your other clothes."
Raymond and Veronica leave the room.
"Perhaps I should leave too Johnny, while you get changed."
"Don't you dare Steven Carter, get over here and give me a proper hello."
Steve smiles and gives John a long passionate kiss. He then watches John with interest as he gets changed and helps him pack his other clothes.
"Mum, dad, I've changed." John calls out.
Raymond and Veronica re-enter the room.
"Steven, are your parents home today?" asks Raymond.
"Yes they are Mr Dixon, dad usually potters around with his Dr Who models and mum likes to garden on a Sunday."
"Well, I'll give them a call and invite them out to lunch," Raymond gets out his mobile phone, "Veronica and I should get to know them better and besides it will give you boys a chance for some time to yourselves."
"Here dad, use my phone, it already has Steve's number in it. Its on speed dial 1."
"Thanks John." Raymond calls Steve's parents, talks to the for a while and then hangs up, "That's settled then, Veronica and I will pick them up at 11:30, you boys will have to fend for yourselves for lunch." He then hands John's phone back to him.
The doctor then enters the room. "Ready to go, well if your parents will just sign this form you will be officially discharged from here. By the way, since your system has had a bit of shock, no heavy exercise for the next week, take things easy."
"Yes sir." John replies as the doctor leaves, wondering if heavy exercise includes what he plans to do with Steve later.
Steve laughs, "Looks like you'll have to spend the week with us geeks, Johnny."
"Steven Carter, you are not a geek," interjects John.
"Oh, what am I then Johnny?"
"You are my lover, my partner, my boyfriend." John says, making Steve fall in love with him all over again.
"Well, boys lets get out here." Raymond intervenes.
They all leave the hospital and after a while they arrive at the Dixon's place.
"John go and get yourself settled in, your mother and I will be getting ourselves ready to go out."
"Ok dad, come on Steve." John grabs Steve's hand and practically drags him to his room.
Once in his room they engage in some passionate kissing and cuddling, but after a while Steve sits up, "Johnny, what are you going to tell people about what happened to you this weekend?"
John sits up as well, "That's simple, I won't say anything, we'll create enough of a stir when the school's biggest sports star and Head Boy, me, turns up there with his arms around you."
Steve looks tenderly at John, "Are you sure you want to do that Johnny? And what about Grainger?"
"Yes Steve I do. Tomorrow morning I will stop by your place and we will go to school together, in fact its what I want to do for the rest of this school year. And as I said to you before, you are the most important person in my life Steven Carter and I don't care who knows. I love you. I love you. I love you."
"I love you too, Johnny, I really do love you." Steve then leans over and kisses John again.
John returns the kiss passionately, then gets up and puts some music on his stereo, looks at Steve and says, "Steve, will you dance with me?" as the music of Mama Cass's 'Dream a little dream of me' fills the room.
Steve gets up and puts his arms around John, "I didn't think you were so sentimental Johnny. This doesn't seem like your kind of music."
"It normally isn't. But several months ago I snuck out and saw 'Beautiful Thing'. This song was in the movie and recently, whenever I hear it, it reminds me of you. I had to raid my parents CD collection to find it." John says as he swings Steve around the room.

John and Steve hold each other closely and sway in time to the music, kissing each other from time to time.
Just as the music is fading out, they hear Raymond Dixon call out, "Boys, we're going now. Be sure you two have something to eat."
"See you later mum and dad." John replies, at the same time Steve also calls out "See you later Mr and Mrs Dixon."
John then falls backward onto his bed, dragging Steve on top of him, kissing him soundly and then says, "What shall we do now Steve?" with a wicked glint in his eyes.
Steve starts to unbutton John's shirt, "I've got a few ideas you randy bugger." John then starts undressing Steve, "Looks like I'm not the only one." he replies.
They quickly undress each other and spend the next couple of hours enjoying each others bodies, like never before.
After their lovemaking is complete, they lay on the bed with Steve's head on John's shoulder, and just enjoying being close to each other, when John's stomach gives a loud rumble.
"Hmmm, we better get down to your kitchen and take care of that, you're going to need your strength later Johnny and I can't have you fading out on me."
"Oh, fuck me, I thought you had shown me everything we could do together."
"Not quite, I still have a few tricks up my sleeve."
"You haven't got any sleeves on, you're starkers, like me." retorts John.
"Well, I'll show you them after we eat." Steve replies while getting dressed.
John dresses himself quickly and they head down to the kitchen where he prepares a huge lunch. "Hope you're hungry."
Steve replies, "I could eat a horse."
John leers at Steve's crotch, "I thought you were one, what with that thing down there."
Steve blushes, "You're not exactly lacking in that area too, Johnny."
Its John's turn to blush, "Shut up, lets eat."
They quickly eat their lunch, clean up and John leads they way back upstairs where he gets Steve to show him those 'tricks'.
They are just getting dressed again when they hear John's parents return. After they are dressed they head downstairs and find John's parents in the living room.
"Hi mum, dad. How was lunch with Steve's parents?" John asks with his arms around Steve.
"It went really well, son. Especially after your mum told some of her stories about 'Uncle James'. I had a talk to your father, Steve, he should be a bit more understanding now."
"Thanks, Mr Dixon, I appreciate that," Steve then turns to John, "I had better get home, mum said she wanted me home early."
"I'll miss you, you know."
"I'll miss you too, Johnny, but we'll see each other tomorrow at school."
"That's right, I'll stop by your place on the way there, make sure you're ready, we wouldn't want to be late." John then turns to his dad, "Dad, can I use the car to run Steve home?"
"Ok John, you know where the keys are."
"I didn't know you could drive, Johnny." Steve says to him
"Had my license for over a year now Steve. I just don't have a car yet and with Basingstoke being as big as it is, its been just as easy to walk or cycle anywhere I have needed to go."
John and Steve get into Raymond's BMW and a short while later John pulls into the Carter's driveway.
"I'll see you tomorrow morning, handsome, don't leave for school before I get here." John says, taking Steve's hand, "Now come here and kiss me."
Steve leans over and kisses John in a kiss which seems to go on and on and on.
"See you tomorrow, Johnny, take it easy." Steve tells him after they break from their kiss.
Steve gets out of the car, and watches as John drives off. He then heads inside to tell his parents all about his day and to find out about theirs.
