Patrick Wilde was born in London and educated at the Salesian College in Battersea. He earned a degree in English Literature at London University and went on to study acting at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1983. During the following decade he worked extensively in the theatre as an actor and director in the UK and Pakistan, much of his work exploring the European classical repertoire.
In 1993 he wrote his first play What's Wrong With Angry? and directed if for his own company, Wild Justice, at the Battersea Arts Centre. It went on to be produced in London's West End in 1995 and in Copenhagen the following year. What's Wrong With Angry? was the basis for Get Real, which was his first screenplay.
Wilde's work on Get Real led to a commission to write for This Life, one of the most successful British TV series of recent years. Since then Patrick has written for several mainstream TV drama series and is much in demand as a TV writer alongside his work developing other feature films.
